Summary

The Texas LEGO® User Group - San Antonio (TexLUG-SA) held its seventh virtual Community Meeting of 2023 on 30 July 2023 from 1300 - 1536, longest meeting for the year. 15 Group Members participated virtually via Skype from their homes. We discussed a variety of topics: three collaboration opportunities from the LAN, 1 no interest, 1 interest and replied and last one limited (2 Members) participation from Group; discussed the collaboration of Members in building a LEGO® Big Texas Comicon Logo for their Convention from 6-8 October 2023 and participation of a maximum of 8 Group Members; and our first Group Project Support effort wrapped up with display of the Statue of Liberty at Brick Rodeo 2023 in Sugar Land, Texas earlier this month, Lady Liberty won Outstanding MOC! Woohoo! Great job to those Members that directly designed, built, transported and discussed her statistics at the Brick Rodeo! Robert C has offered to conduct a LEGO® designed and built Texas Bluebonnet Workshop for the San Antonio Membership with a virtual workshop in collaboration with other State LUGs later this year or next year. A mother and son team will be collaborating with Autism Walks! later this year in October, assisting them with their LEGO® Play Area plus! Finally, we voted unanimously to support our brother LUG - TBRR in skipping the New Braunfels Railroad Museum hosted Fall Train Show due to their lack of respect to Members of the LUGs during the April Spring Train Show this year. Everyone mostly enjoyed the meeting, quite contentious when you have to make hard decisions. During the “Around the LUG” portion of the virtual meeting, LUG Members shared their latest creations and builds.

What We Enjoyed Most

Our monthly virtual Community Meeting continues to achieve one of our goals to keep in touch and plan events and collaboration activities within our Group and with our LUGs in the State for now. Virtually the gathering allows Members to meet from the comfort of their homes and still accomplish subjects of interest to the Group with limited disruption to everyone’s busy lives. A good thing is that Members each get a chance to propose, plan and participate in quarterly TexLUG-SA Social gathering, to show off builds physically, do Parts Draft of small to medium sets and conduct builds with prizes. Additionally, each month, the Ambassador relays pertinent information from the LAN and gives Members an opportunity to discuss and comment if they desire. Members are encouraging each other to attend and actively participate in the virtual Community Meeting since we continue to put physical Community Meetings on hold. Virtually allows other potential new Members to drop in and check out the Group and express their interest in joining regularly. Members continue to show the rest of the Group their LEGO® builds via these online Skype virtual Community Meetings.
