Summary

The Texas LEGO® User Group - San Antonio (TexLUG-SA) held its sixth virtual Community Meeting of 2023 on 25 June 2023. 14 Group Members participated virtually via Skype from their homes. Two surprise additions to the virtual meeting occurred, a new Member that met our Group at the NBRR Museum hosted Spring Train Show 2023 in April that we annually create a very large LEGO® city like display with multiple running LEGO® trains; and the other new Member started following our Group on the LAN. We discussed a variety of topics: confirmed date of setup for 3rd display of year - new creation - Castle / Pirates at Krystle’s Brick Shop, discussed the potential participation of Members at the Big Texas Comicon Convention from 6-8 October 2023 and discussed LAN topics - Pick-a-Brick Survey for website modifications, Pick-a-Brick Containers replacement for plastic cups, switching to rectangular paper boxes and learned new term SCE (Somebody’s Else Creation) that were of interest to the Group. Everyone enjoyed meeting the new Members and hearing about them and their favorite LEGO® themes and recent creations plus current Members shared their favorite LEGO® themes. During the “Around the LUG” portion of the virtual meeting, the remaining LUG Members shared their latest creations and builds.

What We Enjoyed Most

Our monthly virtual Community Meeting continues to achieve one of the goals to keep in touch and plan events and activities while keeping the Group connected. Virtually allows Members to meet from the comfort of their homes and still accomplish subjects of interest to the Group with limited disruption to everyone’s busy lives. A good thing is that Members each get a chance to propose, plan and participate in quarterly TexLUG-SA Social gathering, to show off builds physically, do Parts Draft of small to medium sets and conduct builds with prizes. Additionally, each month, the Ambassador relays pertinent information from the LAN and gives Members an opportunity to discuss and comment if they desire. Members are encouraging each other to attend and actively participate in the virtual Community Meeting since we continue to put physical Community Meetings on hold. Virtually allows other potential new Members to drop in and check out the Group and express their interest in joining regularly. Members continue to show the rest of the Group their LEGO® builds via these online Skype virtual Community Meetings.
