Summary

The Texas LEGO® User Group - San Antonio (TexLUG-SA) held its fifth virtual Community Meeting of 2022 on 29 May 2022. 13 Group Members participated virtually via Skype from their homes. Attendance virtually is steady! The Group discussed a variety of topics to include, latest subjects of interest from the LAN, plus new dates due to the re-establishment, a report on contact with Converse Public Library and possibility of collaborating in the near future on a display by the Group, short discussion on replacing the current MOC displayed at Krystle’s Brick Shop and a report on the progress of the proposed Group Project. Further, we discussed briefly the tragedy of the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas and the possibility of doing something for the Community later in the year. We briefly discussed in person meetings again, but the consensus is continuing with virtual meetings for now, A new Member introduced himself and the rest of the Group did the same, sharing interests in which LEGO® themes they enjoyed. Everyone enjoyed hearing about and seeing Members latest creations and catching up as 2022 continues.

What We Enjoyed Most

Our Virtual Community Meeting is filling the void of seeing each other personally and keeping the Group connected. Virtually allows Members to save gas, a very real thing now and time by having a Community Meeting online and still accomplish subjects of interest to the Group. Last visit to the LEGO® Store, masks were not being worn by either customers or employees, but still a limit of the number of folks in the local LEGO® Store was in effect. Members are encouraging each other to attend and actively participate at the virtual community meeting since we continue to put physical community meetings on hold, participation continues to be strong at virtual community meetings. Members continue to show the rest of the Group their LEGO® builds while working from home or slowly returning to their workplaces physically via these online Skype Virtual Community Meetings.
