Summary

The Texas LEGO® User Group - San Antonio (TexLUG-SA) held its fifth virtual Community Meeting on 30 August 2020. 16 Group Members participated virtually via Skype from their homes. We talked about how the virus is not going away anytime soon, so we are going to continue to meet virtually. I let the Members know that there was a VIP Sweepstakes to participate in if they were interested. Several Members discussed their participation in the virtual LEGO® House Tours. I covered the LEGO® Ideas Activity to select a new book to be published to celebrate the LEGO® brick. I told them that “The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks” was chosen to be written by Daniel Konstanski. Subsequently, he is scheduled to attend and speak at Brick Fiesta 2021 next year in Houston, Texas. I reminded Members that Chris MacDougald has created a video for Virtual Maker Faire SA 2020 to be held on 26 September 2020 on YouTube. Further information on details of the virtual event to follow. We went around the Skype Session virtually and Members shared their recent builds or used their time to tell of other adventures during their time spent at home or at work. In person events scheduled for September have been cancelled. With the continued increase in COVID-19 cases in the greater San Antonio area in Texas, we are still going to be meeting through virtual meetings once a month vice our regularly scheduled twice a month in person meetings. Our Group looks forward to sharing our love of the LEGO® brick element with the public, hopefully next year we can get back together in person.

What We Enjoyed Most

A virtual meeting attempting to keep the Group motivated during these trying times with the coronavirus pandemic hitting San Antonio, Texas and surrounding areas hard. Members are encouraged and still participate even though we are meeting virtually with no much to do about future planning of events, however, talking and showing their builds while isolated or working at home.
