Summary

Members that participated in the build contest really liked getting to physically go look at the buildings to figure out what to build and then trying to figure out all the little details and how to build them in the scale required. They loved doing the research of the San Antonio Missions and then building them in a scale required that is not a scale that they usually build LEGO® creations. Each Member that submitted an entry, had to really think about how to make windows that were bigger than Microscale size but smaller than Modular size. All four current Members entered the contest, with three of the Members tying for First Place in the Adult Age Category! Congratulations! Well done! All Members that attended the Contest Finale, enjoyed engaging with people who are interested in LEGO®, but not yet fully in our enthusiast Community. It was great to see all the families and kids in attendance, to see what they built, and talk about their builds. Their enthusiasm was great to see. Everyone had so much fun and got to hear that Members on site that day, built models of the San Antonio Mission and got to display them for the next month. Members that grew up in San Antonio most enjoyed getting to build and share something that is tied to their City’s culture and history. It was also nice to see families attending the event and seeing what creative builds the kids made. One young lady asked for tips on her build from several Members and they provided her with tips and complemented her techniques at a young age, the smile on her face was worth a Million dollars! A very nice surprise arrived the week following the event at the TexLUG-SA Ambassador’s resident in the mail, a Letter of Appreciation from the Director of the World Heritage Center in San Antonio, Texas thanking ALL the Members that participated, entered San Antonio Missions made of LEGO® bricks and chatting and answering the public’s questions about LEGO® building techniques.
